Krainer Sausage

Krainer Sausage
  • unique and fine texture
  • traditionally smoked over beech wood
  • made according to the authentic recipe of the old Gavrilović masters of trade
  • stay soft and savoury after boiling

The world famous Krainer was named by the Austrian emperor Franz Joseph in 1801 when he was travelling through the province of Carniola. A country tavern owner humbly offered him his home-made sausages which had no particular name. Delighted with the new flavour, the emperor named it Krainer Wurst, Krainer sausage, after the province.

On Christmas 2006, Krainer sausages had the honour of being part of the breakfast menu in space.

Serving Suggestion

Due to their exquisite juiciness, Krainer sausages are great to grill or fry in a pan. They are an excellent addition to various stews and bean soup and those who prefer a more intense flavour will serve it with fermented cabbage – sauerkraut – and roasted potato.

 Beer: light or dark beer
