The name Graničarska takes us back to the times when Petrinja was settled by graničari – border guarding soldiers who defended this territory against Turk invasions. It is mildly salty in aroma and is known for its specific flavour. It is easily sliced in very thin slices.
Dry sausages are cut into very thin slices, around 1 mm thick. Only then can you enjoy the complete combination of flavour and aroma. It is very important to peel off the casing before slicing.
Graničarska sausage is served with hard cheese and seasonal vegetables, and those who love stronger flavour will serve it with red pepper chutney or pickled cucumbers.
